Automated Battery Tester

Overview

An electronics company had a large quantity of NiCd batteries that needed to be charged and verified that they were still functional. Doing the charging and testing manually took a lot of time and had to be done individually.

Solution

We developed a LabVIEW program that controlled and verified that the batteries were charged 16 at a time. The program also determined if the batteries were still functional based on measuring the batteries voltage after being put under a high load.

Result

This test enabled the manufacturer to test more batteries in a shorter amount of time. It also freed up operators to perform other tasks.
