Overview

Temperature Monitor using PLC and LabVIEW.  A consumer manufacturing company needed to monitor up to 64 temperatures on their product to verify the product complied with UL standards.

Solution

We developed a temperature data logger in LabVIEW to monitor 64 thermocouple channels.  The software interfaced with 2 existing Eaton PLC's.  This allowed the customer to reuse their existing hardware.  The software also allowed the user to zoom in on an area of interest, add annotations on the graph, and pause acquisition.

This program allowed the customer to submit test data that was compliant to UL standards.  This enabled the customer to perform this testing in-house as opposed to testing their product off-site.

The Setup screen allowed the user to setup test parameters.

The Thermocouple setup screen allowed the user to add thermocouples to the test setup.  The user could enter a description, the thermocouple address, and if it was enabled on the graph.

Temperature Monitor using PLC and LabVIEW allowed the customer to do their testing on-site instead of outsourcing the testing.  This saved a lot of money and allowed for real time feedback of their product.  Using LabVIEW's extensive instrument library we were able to reuse their existing hardware saving hardware costs.
